Vestry Meeting Snippets – April 21, 2010
- Property Committee – Richard Sause made a Landscape Plan presentation to renovate and clean up the area that leads into the stairway and the entrance to the Cathedral Offices. The dogwoods would be removed and more appropriate plantings would be planted to freshen and open up these areas. The Vestry approved the first phase of the Property Committee’s Master plan.
- Capital Campaign Update – Skip Schlafer of Klote and Associates gave an update. Need to accelerate our visits to all parishioners to complete the Campaign in a timely manner. We are at $1,650.223.00. A list of Pledges to date will be published and included in the service bulletin.
- Treasurer’s Report – Dee Montgomery gave this report. He said that Cash Flow was difficult this month because we did not receive the usual payments from our trust accounts. The Vestry also agreed we should put more emphasis on Electronic Funds Payments (EFT) to get a more steady pledge income stream. This will be communicated and the process explained to all parishioners.
- Sacred Spaces – Two Vestry persons and our Dean attended this Diocesan offering which gave valuable insights on grant writing and ways to generate income to maintain church buildings.
- Third Millennium Grant Proposal – The Dean reviewed with the Vestry that he will make a $60,000 request of the Third Millennium Fund. The Vestry was receptive. Our partners in Kajo Keji and our Cathedral are both building and repairing walls. The purpose is to show to show our support of their efforts and also to our Capital Campaign. $30,000.00 would go to each. If approved by the Third Millennium Fund, it must also be approved by the Vestry.
- Camp Lackawanna Proposal – Ray Arcario reviewed the proposal made to the Presbytery of Lackawana to construct a pavilion at the camp. This will significantly improve the facility and will provide great options for Nativity and Camp Lackawana. The presbytery agreed with our proposal and we will help fund part of the project as well as provide physical resources to construct it. We will provide $5,000 for the project. The Vestry thanked Ray for negotiating this and unanimously agreed to fund by transferring monies that were tagged but used in a fund endorsed by the Third Millennium Fund.
