Nativity Choristers

The Nativity Choristers is a Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) affiliate program choir for children and teenagers between 8 and 14 years old. Choristers sing regularly at Masses and Evensongs at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity, and receive a thorough musical education. Choristers sing both on their own, as a treble line ensemble, and with adult choir members singing the lower parts in music for full choir. At their weekly rehearsals, Choristers develop vocal technique and music literacy, sing in a variety of languages, and are exposed to a wide variety of music spanning centuries. At Nativity, we are grounded in the American and British choral repertoire, with additional literature from across the sacred tradition in Latin, Spanish, German, French, and more. The ensemble activity also promotes the development of leadership skills, a collaborative spirit, and social engagement. Chorister programs are wonderful experiences where people connect with their musicality, find a love for singing, make lifelong friendships, and find a special community within the church. Because the Nativity Choristers are asked to sing frequently and is a professional-level music education program, they are paid a small stipend for their participation in services. Additionally, there is a weekly dinner provided by the church as a time for fellowship among the Choristers.

Enrollment in the Chorister program is always open throughout the season, please get in touch if you are interested in joining at any time!
